Have A Nice Day! :)
Is this considered part of ObjectDesktop?
Published on January 8, 2010 By WebGizmos In Object Desktop

I just saw an "update available" for DesktopX Pro but when I click on the update I am told I need to register this product. So...the question is whether or not it is part of ObjectDesktop...if not I will just uninstall whatever was install. If it is part of ObjectDesktop how do I get this registered? I have no idea what or where the serial is to register this product....I just assumed it was already registered.

Also....is this a somewhat stable update...as in all widgets and such will continue working.

https://www.wincustomize.com/myaccount.aspx?reg

Your S/N should appear there.

As for whether it's stable or not...try pm'ing RedneckDude or Wiz....or sViz. I only have the amateur edition.

Tried that before posting this...didn't work.

DesktopX Pro is a seperate purchase. The non pro version may or may not be part of OD, not sure. But I had to pay extra to get DX Pro.

I have DesktopX Pro installed... it was the only option available to me when I reinstalled everything on Win 7, though DesktopX 4 now also shows as installed in Impulse.

Ok...well I don't know how I got the Pro version installed since I never paid for it. So...I see both version 4 as being installed and Pro as being somewhat installed I'm guessing. So is it safe to uninstall the Pro version thats shown?

I think it's a glitch in Impulse.  I, too, had DesktopX Pro in my list of apps, and it said it was installed 01/06/2010.  Since I KNOW I didn't install anything that day, I right clicked to verify if it was correctly installed, Impulse said it needed an update, I checked for updates, none were found, I uninstalled DX Pro (which took only a second...like long enough for Impulse to remove text), and then it was no longer in available programs to install...therefore, I'm assuming it was a glitch in Impulse.

Definitely a glitch. I have pro but I still see DX 4 standard. I don't think it's actually installed, probably just in text only.

You don't. Run  DesktopX, when you get the DesktopX configuration dialog, choose "about". It should say DesktopX. Not Pro. I don't know why DX is so screwy.

I don't know whether it was/is an Impulse glitch or not... I just went back into Impulse, right clicked the DX Pro icon> 'run' and  'DX 4.0 Builder - Settings' loaded, from which I loaded "Q's Counter Element" desktop.

Someone skinned it once too often....

You buy it in 'Juarez' WG?

You buy it in 'Juarez' WG?

Isn't that down Mexico way... somewhere near Accapulco???

You buy it in 'Juarez' WG?

Must have been something left behind from a recent opertion.

Ok...uninstalled Pro...which in turn uninstalled DesktopX 3.50 as well. Did a restore from archives and the little buggers back again. Hopefully someone that knows something will answer this post.

Hey Steve, I'm running into the same problem here.....

Same here!

There is a DesktopX install in C:\ProgramFiles\Stardock\DesktopX that houses DesktopX Pro.  Then there's another install in C:\ProgramFiles\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX that houses regular DesktopX.   I hope this helps. I fail to understand why we need both, it just adds confusion.
